International Symposium on Wild Boar and Other Suids

10th International Symposium on Wild Boar and Other Suids

10th International Symposium on Wild Boar and Other Suids will take place in Velenje, Slovenia, 1-5 September 2014

On behalf of the organising committee we warmly invite you to attend the 10th International Symposium on Wild Boar and Other Suids in Velenje, Slovenia, 1–5 September 2014.

Achieving an effective, adaptive and environmentally sensitive management and conservation of wild boar, feral pigs and others suids are of increasing concern to conservation biologists, wildlife managers, hunters, policy makers and the general public all around the globe. A worldwide interest in ecology, management and population control of these species is continuing to grow rapidly, and there is a permanent need to transfer new scientific achievements as well as professional experiences and examples of good practices within the scientific community and to the end users. Therefore, we are much honoured to have the opportunity and responsibility to organise the jubilee, 10th International Symposium on Wild Boar and other Suids which will provide an up-to-date overview of the most recent advances in ecology, behaviour, diseases, genetics, ecosystem services and benefits, management and population control of these species.

The Symposium also aims to promote complementary research of different research teams, to enable networking and to foster international cooperation among wild boar researchers and enthusiasts. Therefore, we encourage you to participate either with an oral presentation, poster presentation or just as a passive observer.
