Researches of environmental pollution impact on humans are very intensive lately. From the results of many researches of soil, air, plant and animal pollution it was shown than human with their activity affect the environment in a great extent. Also at ERICo Velenje many of the major pollutants were investigated, namely heavy metal pollution assessment, including trace elements (lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic etc.), highly volatile hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. All these pollutants can have a direct or an indirect impact on human and their health. The pollutant can act as a trigger (promoter) of a certain disease or can (in a combination with some other factor) cause various diseases.
